Our founder president, advocate and author Mini Ghosh, during her practising period at Kolkata High Court, has come across various forms of violence, discrimination against women. In many occasions, she found that lack of education and empowerment is the root cause of all above discriminatory gender violation.

Therefore our organization SHE has been committed for the empowerment of women and for the creation of a just and equal world for a decade.

We are people-centric, have experienced in the field of women empowerment and have a planned approach to developmental activities with a specific focus on Gender Inequality and the welfare and rights of the vulnerable groups of women and children in society.

♦ Adoption of skills, confidence & awareness
♦ Gender unbiased services
♦ Women’s rights and entitlement: Maternal, infant health & safe employment.
♦ The use of renewable energy linked to overall growth of the community
♦ Ensure that all models of empowerment and renewable energy are designed with participation of local communities.

1. Soft skill, communication skill, language proficiency in vernacular and English, among above 14 years children/women and youth to enhance employability of women.
2. Empowerment of women through legal, social awareness and financial independence.
3. Setting up day care centres for senior citizens including their productive engagement.
4. Reducing inequalities faced by socially and economically backward groups
5. Renewable energy for sustainable and responsible development.
6. Campaigning environmental sustainability, ecological balance, protection of flora and fauna, agro forestry, conservation of natural resources.

Primarily we have been trying to empower the women and in the process of achieving our mission, we understand empowering means educating. Therefore we provide to our stakeholders:

 • Training in soft skill, spoken English & ITC for better employability and financial independence

 • Besides, indeed, girls are perusing their formal education under our direct supervision.

 • Adult education

 • Socio-legal counselling &

 • Awareness camps to prevent:

           ♦ Domestic violence

           ♦ Sexual harassment

♦ Child marriage and other abuses

♦ Stigma of menstruation & hygiene (MHM)

The overall design, purpose and structure of our programmes of women empowerment, awareness of socio-legal rights and education were vital for the realization of human rights for all and stop exploitation including prevention of child marriage.

Our team frequently tries to explain the hazardous aspect of child marriage such as:

1. It automatically hinders educational progress and dropout leading them to remain poor and poorer.

2. It causes health hazard of child bearing. Even death can occur to a premature girl (below the age of 18 years) as her body is not ready for childbirth. Due to low education level, they become prone to various life endangering diseases.

3. Pregnant Girl Child shies away from taking hospital support and or giving birth under medical supervision, making a perpetual risk of life of child & mother bride.

This mostly happen due to conflicting legal provisions in the Acts as follows:

• Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006,

• Juvenile Justice (care and protection of children) Act, 2015,

• Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005,

• Hindu Marriage Act, 1955, .

• Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO), 2012, etc,

4. We therefore continuously explain the provisions of Prohibition of Child Marriage Act (PCMA) 2006 and other Acts in force.
